About the Role

Apex designs and manufactures satellite buses at scale. These platforms carry customer payloads to orbit and enable earth observation, communications, and more. As an Avionics Engineer, you will design avionics systems and electrical components, collaborate across mechanical, systems, and software teams, and ensure seamless integration of subsystems to the highest performance standards.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop avionics systems and electrical components for satellite platforms, considering mission requirements, technical specifications, and industry standards.
  • Develop electrical system architectures and schematics, including power distribution, communication interfaces, and control systems.
  • Design printed circuit boards (PCBs) with attention to component placement, signal routing, and manufacturability.
  • Select suitable electronic components such as sensors, transmitters, receivers, and processors to meet project requirements.
  • Define and execute comprehensive test plans to validate avionics and electrical systems' performance against specifications and safety standards.
  • Identify and resolve electrical and avionics system issues during development, integration, and testing phases.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to coordinate activities, share knowledge, and provide technical guidance.
  • Stay updated with advancements in avionics and electrical engineering for satellite systems and apply innovative solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Avionics Engineering, or related field.
  • 3-6 years of relevant experience in avionics and electrical engineering, preferably in aerospace or satellite industry.
  • Proficiency in designing avionics systems, electrical circuits, and subsystems.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles: analog and digital circuit design, power electronics, and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC).
  • Experience with eCAD software such as Altium, circuit simulation software such as LTSpice, and PCB design tools.
  • Ability to analyze complex electrical and avionics problems and implement effective troubleshooting techniques.
  • Experience with test equipment such as Logic Analyzer, Oscilloscopes, and Spectrum Analyzers.
  • Proven ability to collaborate within cross-functional teams and communicate complex technical concepts.
  • Strong attention to detail, commitment to high-quality work, and ability to meet project deadlines and budget constraints.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities and technologies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • U.S. Person status required due to access to export controlled data.

Compensation

Salary Range: $125,000 to $155,000 per year. Additional benefits listed below.
