Astranis builds advanced satellites for high orbits. Five satellites are on orbit today, with more launching soon. The company serves large enterprises, sovereign governments, and the US military, with over $1 billion in commercial contracts.
The Role
You will work on an interdisciplinary team to design, build, and test satellite hardware and software. Your core responsibilities include:
- Operate and set up environmental test equipment: ambient thermal chambers, Thermal Vacuum Chambers (TVAC), vibration shaker tables, and EMI/EMC test equipment
- Learn to use various test instruments including thermal chambers, vibration tables, DAQs, and oscilloscopes
- Set up, operate, and conduct environmental testing across vibration, acoustics, thermal, thermal vacuum, and RF domains
- Execute detailed test plans and contribute to hardware validation
This is a 12-week internship, paid hourly at $29.00 per hour. You will be onsite five days a week.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled at a four-year university in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent technical degree
- Passion for hardware development and hands-on design
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
- Strong communication skills
- Familiarity with spacecraft systems and operation
- Onsite presence required five days a week
Bonus Skills
- Hands-on experience designing, building, and testing hardware
- Python coding experience to interface with test equipment, process datasets, and visualize data
- CAD experience
- Direct electrical or mechanical design experience
- Ability to debug hardware and software problems under time pressure
