The Role
Join the Primary Structures Team as a Senior Structures Responsible Engineer for Launch Vehicles. You will develop state-of-the-art pressurized structures throughout the product lifecycle, collaborating with skilled teams on analysis, design, fabrication, and testing.
Your Responsibilities
- Own the complete roadmap for your hardware: conceptual design, structural layout, sizing analysis, production, and testing
- Design and develop composite pressurized structures
- Perform mass optimization and design requalification
- Support products from conceptual creation through design release, analysis, prototype, qualification, and production
- Lead configuration development and trade studies
- Maintain requirements, schedules, budgets, and status
- Create CAD models, manufacturing drawings, specifications, and technical documentation
- Perform first-order strength and sizing calculations
Required Qualifications
- B.S. in aerospace or mechanical engineering
- 6+ years experience in structural system design
- Strong 3D CAD skills (Siemens NX / FiberSim preferred)
- Experience with FEA/FEM tools such as Nastran, ANSYS, FEMAP, or Simcenter
- Ability to work effectively in multi-discipline teams and provide technical guidance
Desired Experience
- Taking hardware from analysis through test and back through analysis validation
- Aerospace standard structural analysis methods (Bruhn, Niu, Roark, etc)
- Composite manufacturing methods, material selection, testing, and characterization
- Composite structures and manufacturing techniques
- Pressurant or propellant tank design
- Filament wound and/or automated fiber placement (AFP) structures
