Reflect Orbital · Hawthorne HQ · Electronics · first seen 2026-07-16

About the Role

As an Avionics Engineer, you will have zero to one design ownership of electronic subsystems on Reflect's first spacecraft. You will be responsible for designing, building, testing and improving reliable space-ready components. The ideal candidate will have strong experience working on spacecraft.

Responsibilities

  • Own avionics system-level design and interfaces and make system-level trades
  • Prototype, design, bring up and validate flight computers, communication systems, and electronics for power systems and ADCS
  • Establish best practices and tooling for electrical engineering design
  • Develop in-house avionics test infrastructure: flatsat, GPS sim, power sim, comms sim, etc.
  • Design and execute avionics qualification testing for vibration, shock, thermal and thermal vacuum environments and own your hardware into flight operation

Ideal Qualifications

  • 4-6 years of avionics or electronics engineering experience, ideally on spacecraft
  • Designed and validated PCBAs for the space environment or similar high performance environments and vehicles
  • Owned multiple high-reliability electronics subsystems from concept to deployment
  • Ability to succeed with a high level of autonomy
  • Experience iterating on requirements and architecture to achieve optimal design in highly constrained trade space
  • Experience troubleshooting and debugging electronics systems

Even if you don't meet 100% of the above qualifications, we are likely still interested in hearing from you. We believe exceptional people often have highly unusual backgrounds and are interested in carving out unique roles for unconventional people.

Benefits

  • Broad choice of medical, dental and vision coverage; Reflect covers 100% of each base-policy
  • Access to HSA, FSA, and 401K
  • Unlimited paid time off, two weeks per year encouraged
  • Healthy lunches provided daily
