GNC Engineer Seen this week
About the Role
As a GNC Engineer, you will enable prediction of in-orbit performance for a novel space vehicle. Your work spans vehicle-level dynamics modeling, orbital dynamics propagation, and controller design for flight-ready avionics. You will bring full-stack GNC development capability.
Responsibilities
- Develop and own the 6-DOF simulation for understanding vehicle attitude, station-keeping, and orbital performance
- Design and implement controllers on hardware going to space by writing software yourself
- Use simulation to constrain and inform ADCS design
- Work closely with avionics engineers to ensure performant, reliable attitude determination and control
- Analyze orbits, constellation designs, trajectories, and attitude motion profiles to maximize vehicle service performance
- Contribute to high-level vehicle architecture decisions
- Support prototyping and implement controllers on prototype hardware
- Develop creative solutions to novel problems in precisely positioning reflected sunlight from space
Ideal Qualifications
- 4-6 years of professional GNC engineering experience, ideally on spacecraft or other dynamically controlled vehicles
- Clear prior technical ownership of functioning vehicle controllers and simulation (e.g. designed and simulated GNC for a specific vehicle)
- Experience building simulation environments from scratch and familiarity with best practices
- Experience implementing attitude control and/or estimation algorithms on spacecraft
- Experience with verification and validation of GNC flight software in integrated environments, using 6-DOF simulation and HITL testing
We are interested in exceptional individuals and may consider candidates who do not meet 100% of qualifications. We carve out unique roles for unconventional people we are excited to work with.
Benefits
- Medical, dental, and vision coverage; Reflect covers 100% of each base-policy
- Access to HSA, FSA, and 401K
- Unlimited paid time off, two weeks per year encouraged
- Daily healthy lunches provided
