About the role
You will be a key member of a small talented team refining turbomachinery technology across multiple engine platforms. You will own portions of turbopump technology and provide active voice in engine test and development. You report to the Manager of Turbomachinery Core Technology.
Responsibilities
- Support conceptual design and development of new turbomachinery as the subject matter expert in one or more key areas. Perform design trades, preliminary design work and analysis.
- Collaborate with the Turbomachinery Design team on high-performing, state-of-the-art detailed designs that are manufacture-able and flight ready.
- Support existing Ursa Major turbomachinery to troubleshoot performance or reliability issues in your area(s) of expertise.
Required qualifications
- Minimum B.S. degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
- 5+ years experience in turbomachinery design and development.
- 2+ years experience with CAD software, preferably Siemens NX or PTC Creo.
- Comfortable working in fast-paced, startup environment.
- Significant experience and technical expertise in one or more of: rotor dynamics; balancing fundamentals; turbine stage aero-mechanical design; hydrodynamic design of pumps/inducers; turbomachinery detailed layout and design.
- Experience in turbomachinery-related analysis software (ANSYS FEA, CFD or other specialized software as applicable).
Desired skills and experience
- Experience with structural and thermal analysis using ANSYS FEA software.
- Proficiency in major industry CFD software (CFX, Fluent, etc).
- Experience in liquid rocket engine design, test or analysis.
Employment details
Classification: Full-time Exempt
Base compensation range: $112,000 - $140,000, determined by education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities.

Requirements
